*Objet : tournée de Madame Leila Shahid dans des établissements scolaires du second degré*

Monsieur le Ministre,

 Comme militante des droits de l’homme, comme enseignante et comme  citoyenne, je suis profondément attachée à la laïcité républicaine et à ce titre hostile à l’intervention de religieux mais aussi de politiques au sein de l’institution scolaire. La sagesse comme l’éthique du pédagogue lui font chérir la neutralité qui doit protéger les élèves du prosélytisme et de l’embrigadement. Aussi je regrette cette intrusion du politique, au sens vulgaire du terme, au sein de l’école qui doit rester le lieu protégé de la transmission des connaissances, nécessaire et première condition de l’acquisition du sens critique du futur citoyen.

 Au demeurant, cette intrusion est entachée d’un déséquilibre qui l’apparente à une opération de propagande puisque ce qui était présenté comme un débat n’en était pas vraiment un, les trois intervenants ayant, comme c’est leur droit, des positions convergentes. Je précise qu’un vrai débat contradictoire opposant la représentante de l’Autorité palestinienne à l’Ambassadeur d’Israël, n’eut pas été plus souhaitable à mon sens au sein d’un établissement scolaire. L’école n’a pas vocation à concurrencer les émissions de radio ou de télévision. Le climat scolaire déjà lourd et émaillé d’incidents antisémites n’a rien à y gagner.

 Enfin, je trouve troublant sur le plan historique que Madame Shahid soit introduite dans les établissements scolaires l’année du soixantième anniversaire de la Libération des camps nazis alors même qu’elle vient de faire la promotion de l’ouvrage de sa mère. Cette dernière y évoque sa jeunesse à Jérusalem en déplorant l’exil de son père en 1936. Or celui-ci était, me semble-t-il, le Grand Mufti de Jérusalem, Amine El Husseini, allié des nazis, installé à Berlin dès 1942 et qui porte sa petite part de responsabilité dans l’anéantissement des Juifs d’Europe, en particulier d’enfants, en leur ayant interdit l’accès à la Palestine !

 Certes Madame Shahid ne peut être taxée de négationnisme et nul n’est responsable de ses ascendants mais par contre /revendiquer /un héritage aussi lourd n’est pas anodin.
